Africa by CLub Car
There are many ways to see southern Africa but there can few more genteel and romantic ways to travel than by luxury train carriage.
There are a range of five star options in southern Africa including one operator that has beautifully rebuilt vintage carriages and caters to a relatively small number of discerning passengers in superbly appointed suites.
Sean Lues from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark the rail network gives travelers access to some of southern Africa’s greatest treasures.

TUSCANY IS THE PERFECT TASTE OF ITALY
Italy offers a range of delights for tourists – spectacular landscapes, great works of art and architecture, the treasures of ancient Rome and then there’s the food.
While there’s fierce rivalry between Italy’s regions for the best cuisine it’s hard to go past Tuscany.
Halinka Panzera from Journeys Worldwide takes small groups of foodies on tours of Italy and tells Mark while she prefers to take singles, there’s always room for couples.

INDIA IS EASIER THAN YOU IMAGINE
Some people are put off the idea of a holiday in India by concerns about getting sick, the food and the sheer numbers of people.
According to Margaret Freebairn from Journeys Worldwide they are doing themselves a great disservice and are missing out on an unparalleled experience.
Margaret tells Mark she’s lost count of the number of trips she’s taken to the subcontinent and is planning a new one that will even take in the real Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

AUSTRALIAN TOURISTS ARE TURNING JAPANESE
Last year more than half a million Australian tourists visited Japan, an 11 per cent increase on the year before and a new annual record.
Japan is also very much in the news at the moment with the installation of a new emperor to sit on the Chrysanthemum throne.
Kirsten Wallis from Journeys Worldwide tries to convince Mark to visit the land of the rising sun and to enjoy a dip in an onsen.

THE GALAPAGOS - NATURAL WONDER
It was the unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands that had a huge impact on Charles Darwin and the formation of his seminal Theory of Evolution By Natural Selection.
The Galapagos are such a natural wonder that the archipelago was the first ever World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO.
It’s also a huge draw for tourists and Sean Lues from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark it offers an unparalleled experience.

LAPLAND - MAGICAL WINTER WONDERLAND
If you’ve ever dreamt of a white Christmas is doesn’t get whiter or more Christmasy than Lapland, the home of Santa Claus.
Of course, there is far more to the frozen north than Santa’s workshop, sleigh bells and reindeer.
Sean Lues from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark that with winter coming in Australia it’s time to begin planning a trip to get a real taste of winter.

AFRICA FOR BEGINNERS
If you’ve ever thought about a holiday in Africa but have been reluctant because it’s so exotic Namibia may be the perfect entre to the continent.
It’s easy to get to, it’s very safe, it boasts incredible natural wonders and wildlife and it has the added benefit of not being overrun by tourists.
Sean Lues from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark it’s basically Africa for beginners

THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER
The Rocky Mountaineer is considered one of the world’s great train journey’s combining spectacular scenery with top class comfort and service.
It’s been awarded the “World’s Leading Travel Experience by Train” at the World Travel Awards seven times and has been recognised by National Geographic Magazine as one of the world’s best journeys.
Journeys Worldwide Senior Travel Consultant Kirtsen Wallis tells Mark it was a bucket list trip.

THE SERENGETI - EAST AFRICA
There’s a reason Toto namechecked the Serengeti in its classic hit Africa.
It is one of the most spectacular and awe inspiring destinations on the continent and a haven for wildlife, making it a major drawcard.
Journeys Worldwide specialises in tours a little off the beaten track and managing director Sean Lues tells Mark a Serengeti safari will provide an experience never to be forgotten.

STYLE OF CRUISING TO SUIT ALL
When most people think of taking a cruise they imagine a huge ocean liner, visiting exotic ports and strolling the decks with a cocktail in hand.
While that is undoubtedly a great holiday it is far from the only way of cruising.
Wietske Hattingh from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark increasingly people are looking for something different, everything from adventure cruises to hire-a-boat trips.

GORILLAS IN OUR MIDST
There can be few greater and more humbling experiences than coming face to almost human face with our evolutionary cousins the gorilla in the wild.
For years adventurous tourists have traveled to Uganda and Rwanda to get close to the great apes but there are new avenues opening up.
Sean Lues from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark that travelers really need to consider visiting Congo and the Central African Republic.

A LITTLE NORTHERN EXPOSURE
Alaska, in large part, remains one of the world’s few remaining wilderness areas and is increasingly becoming a drawcard tourists.
It offers unparalleled wildlife experiences with whales in the seas and bear and moose on land.
Halinka Panzera from Journeys Worldwide and Craig McLaurin from Norwegian Cruise Line joined Mark in the studio.
Craig is just back from his first trip to Alaska and says he was surprised by how green it was.

MADAGASCAR - MORE THAN JUST LEMURS
Much of what many people know of Madagascar comes from the hit animated movies of the same name, but the country offers so much more.
Not only does the island nation off the east coast of Africa boast fauna and flora found nowhere else on earth, but stunning beaches, culture and history as well.
Sean Lues from Journey’s Worldwide tells Mark there’s a holiday for everyone whether they want to relax, have an adventure or get up close and personal with a Lemur.

WHEN TWO PLUS TWO IS NOT YOU
One in six families in Australia are single parent families and all too often many forgo taking overseas holidays because of the logistics and stress.
It doesn’t need to be that hard though.
Wietske Hattingh from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark there is help at hand with great affordable packages and tour groups that cater especially to single parent families.

THE CHANGING FACE OF COLOMBIA
Mention Colombia to most people and the first thing they probably think of is Pablo Escobar, cocaine cartels and communist rebels, but the country is a very different place today.
In fact, it is fast becoming a tourist mecca boasting spectacular mountains, rainforests, beaches and a vibrant and authentic Latin American culture.
No-one is more surprised than Mark and Clifton Sylk from Journeys Worldwide says the turn around has been as quick as it has been remarkable.

TIME FOR SOME TAX REFUND RELAXATION
Much of what many people know of Madagascar comes from the hit animated movies of the same name, but the country offers so much more.
Not only does the island nation off the east coast of Africa boast fauna and flora found nowhere else on earth, but stunning beaches, culture and history as well.
Sean Lues from Journey’s Worldwide tells Mark there’s a holiday for everyone whether they want to relax, have an adventure or get up close and personal with a Lemur.

INDIA, COMFORTABLE & SAFE
Many travelers are too quick to rule a line through India as a destination because of preconceptions about the food, the crowds and the poverty.
It is a shame because they are missing out on one of the most spectacular and memorable holiday experiences on the planet.
Margaret Freebairn from Journeys Worldwide is recently returned from leading a tour to India and she tells Mark people would be pleasantly suprised with how safe and comfortable the experience can be.

TRAVEL AGENTS, essential to a happy holiday
With a world of choice and unlimited information just a keystroke away it is sometimes tempting to imagine that we can do everything for ourselves.
Sometimes though information overload leaves many overwhelmed and confused, something especially true when it comes to planning a holiday overseas.
That is where a professional travel agent can make a world of difference.
Wietske Hattingh from Journeys Worldwide tells Mark a good agent will actually save clients money while giving them great experiences, such as an African Safari she has put together.
