Well finally back on the grid. First night spent at Katambuga house in Arusha which is a lovely little boutique property set amongst the coffee plantations at the foot of mount Meru. Unfortunately didn’t get to spend much time here. After a fabulous breakfast and tour of the property I set off for Manyara national park to spend 1 night at Wayo’s tented green camp. This place was amazing. Back to basics, true authentic African camping experience. Enroute we stopped at Mosquito Village for a 2 hour bike ride thru the village which is very unique in that houses residents from all 125 tribes within Tanzania.. only village that had this so pretty special. Visited a local painting workshop with local artists, wood carving artesians, local home for a lunch, visit to local market and to finish a visit to a local pub to try the banana beer. In the park have park have done 2 wonderful game drives – this place is a must for bird lovers, So many bird species including the pink flamingos and home to 4 of the big 5 (no rhino). I was fortunate enough to be under the expert guidance of George from Wayo tours whose knowledge of everything made these trips amazing. Did the treetops canopy walk with the highest point being 18 m above the ground – not for the feint hearted! Have now arrived at Lemala Killivillas where I have met the group that I will be downing the next 7 nights with. Looking forward to see and staying at all the lovely Lemala camps.. good night from Africa

Long day travelling today but our camp at Lemal Kuria Hills is just gorgeous.

Zanzibar

Had a busy day yesterday.. started with a city tour of Stonetown which included a visit to the colourful food markets, a very somber visit to the former East African slave market site and memorial and for the Queen fans – Freddy Mercury’s original home and stage were he performed many times. After a long drive and a couple of hotel inspections I arrived at the Baraza Resort & Spa. Zanzibar’s finest hotel I had a beautiful 5 course dinner and a very lovely villa for a great night sleep .
Hoping to get some beach time today after moving hotels to The Palms today. Bye from Zanzibar

And my final night in Zanzibar, will be very sad to leave this little piece of heaven. All the hotels have been amazing. It’s hard to pick a favourite- they each have their own unique style but all have wonderful friendly staff to make your stay even more enjoyable. Has been great to have some downtime after my fabulous safari. Now for the long trip home tomorrow Africa
