Tuesday Day 1: AUSTRALIA / JOHANNESBURG

Tour members depart from their respective home cities to Perth where they will connect to South African Airways flight to Johannesburg.

Wednesday Day 2: JOHANNESBURG / CAPE TOWN

Early morning arrival and after clearing customs and immigration you will make your way to the domestic terminal for your flight to Cape Town where you will arrive mid-morning. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 4 night stay. Afternoon cable car ride up Table Mountain (weather permitting).

Thursday Day 3: CAPE TOWN

Today we drive along the Atlantic Ocean to Cape Point. We stop at the interesting fishing port of Hout Bay before continuing along Chapmans Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point where the Indian and

Atlantic oceans meet. After lunch we return to Cape Town along the Indian Ocean side stopping at the Rhodes Memorialscenically situated against the slopes of Table Mountain.

Friday Day 4: CAPE TOWN

This morning we make our way to Table view to photograph the famous view of Table Mountain. Located on the Atlantic Ocean, the water is icy cold and from here we continue to Stellenbosch. This Cape Dutch town was

founded in 1688. After sightseeing we make our way to Kalk Bay and the Brass Bell restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is famous for its seafood and overlooks the Indian Ocean.

Saturday Day 5: CAPE TOWN

Morning city orientation tour and you may wish to visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. An optional afternoon tour ofRobben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned is available. Alternatively you may wish to have a free day to explore this famous city.

Sunday Day 6: CAPE TOWN / OKIEP

After breakfast we make our way north, travelling through a pretty fruit-growing area and along the banks of the Olifants River to Clanwilliam. After an early lunch we continue to Okiep for an overnight stay.

Monday Day 7: OKIEP / FISH RIVER CANYON

This morning we travel to the Orange River, which is the largest in South Africa and forms the border with Namibia. After clearing customs and immigration we make our way to the Fish River Canyon situated in a unique desert area surrounded by interesting rock formations. After lunch we visit this spectacular canyon, which is the second deepest in the world and visited by very few tourists.

Tuesday Day 8: FISH RIVER CANYON / WINDHOEK

After an early breakfast we take a long drive through arid country with scattered sheep farms. We reach Windhoek late afternoon for a two night stay.

Wednesday Day 9: WINDHOEK

This morning you will be taken on an orientation tour of Namibia’s capital, including the National Assembly and Lutheran Church. After sightseeing we return to our hotel. Balance of day free.

Thursday Day 10: WINDHOEK / ETOSHA N.P.

Today we travel north to Otjiwarongo, where we stop for an early lunch. We continue towards Et o s h a Na t i o n a l Pa r k , wh e r e o u r accommodation for two nights is at a family wned guest farm near Etosha National Park.

Friday Day 11: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Your accommodation is situated 35 kms from the gate to Etosha National Park, and we spend a full day in the park, which is one of the best in southern Africa. Etosha is well known for the “Big Five” as well as oryx, springbok and other dryland mammals.

Saturday Day 12: ETOSHA / GROOTFONTEIN

This morning we take a leisurely game drive through Etosha National Park. After an early lunch we leave the park and continue to the town of Tsumeb for a short visit to the local museum.

Sunday Day 13: GROOTFONTEIN / RUNDU

After breakfast we depart for the Angolan border and the town of Rundu. There are interesting local African villages en-route and we arrive early afternoon at our lodge. The lodge is scenically situated on the bank of the Okavango River.

Monday Day 14: RUNDU / KATIMA MULILO

This morning there will be an opportunity to cross by boat into Angola before travelling along the Caprivi Strip towards the border. Our lodge is scenically situated on the bank of the Zambezi River.

Tuesday Day 15: KATIMA MULILO

Free day at our charming lodge. Arrangements can be made to visit the town and local craft markets. An optional fishing trip chasing the well-known Zambezi tiger fish is available.

Wednesday Day 16: KATIMA MULILO / VICTORIA FALLS

This morning we cross the border into Botswana and continue to the Zimbabwe border. After crossing we arrive in VictoriaFalls in time for a late lunch. Afternoon tour of the Falls including entrance fee.

Thursday Day 17: VICTORIA FALLS / CHOBE N.P.

This morning there will be an opportunity to take an optional 12-minute helicopter ride over the Falls. After lunch we depart for the Botswana border and, after formalities, we proceed to our lodge. Balance of day at leisure to enjoy your Lodge on the Chobe River.

Friday Day 18: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Early morning ranger-escorted game drive in the nearby national park which is well known for its big cats. In the afternoon there will be a river activity during which you will see hippo, elephant and many other mammals and birds.

Saturday Day 19: CHOBE N.P. / FRANCISTOWN

After breakfast we depart for Francistown stopping at Nata Lodge for lunch. We continue south along the edge of the Kalahari Desert arriving late afternoon.

Sunday Day 20: FRANCISTOWN / PILANESBERG N.P.

After breakfast we make our way to the South African border and after a brief lunch, we continue to the mining town ofThabazimbi. From here we continue to our excellent lodge, located inside the national park.

Monday Day 21: PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK

Mid-morning departure for Sun City, where we visit “The Lost City”. After lunch we return to our lodge for an afternoon ranger-escorted game drive. The lodge is also famous for its diverse birdlife.

Tuesday Day 22: PILANESBERG N.P. / JOHANNESBURG / PERTH

Morning at leisure and after lunch we depart for Johannesburg International Airport where we join a South African Airways evening flight to Perth.

Wednesday Day 23: AUSTRALIA

Arrive in Perth at 1300. After clearing customs and immigration you will connect to your home destination. Alternatively you may wish to have a stopover in Perth where we can arrange accommodation and car hire.

Your Tour Leaders

General Manager Sean Lues was born in Zimbabwe, knows Southern Africa & Tanzania intimately and will be escorting a number of departures. He has personally escorted more than 50 African safaris.

Former Overland Tour Leader Sid McKinley has lived in South Africa for more than 18 years and knows both the Explorer and Discoverer Tours. He has an excellent knowledge of wildlife.
