Self Guided Tour for Independent Travellers to Seoul, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo
Self guided, 14 Days, Korea & Japan:
Japan and Korea are extremely safe destinations and both societies are disciplined and polite.
Travellers will receive a comprehensive pre-departure booklet with instructions how to activate your Rail Pass, useful hints, clothing suggestions and other helpful information.
During certain times of the year, the hotels specified in the itinerary may not be available in which case similar hotels and facilities will be provided.
All hotels are booked on a bed only basis, which equates to a saving of AU$250.00 per person. This gives you the opportunity to experience inexpensive local breakfasts.
Day 1: BRISBANE / SEOULDepart on flight KE124 to Seoul 0825 / 1735. Upon arrival and after clearing customs and immigration you will be transferred by limousine bus to your hotel located in the well-known “Gangnam” area of Seoul.

Day 2: SEOULAfter breakfast at 0730 you will be picked up at your hotel for a day tour to the DMZ. This stretch of no man’s land is the border between North and South Korea and the tour includes a visit to the tunnel complex and museum. Lunch is included and after sightseeing you will return to Seoul from where you should take the Underground or a taxi back to your hotel.

Day 3: SEOUL / FUKUOKAMid-morning transfer by limousine bus to the airport for flight KE789 to Fukuoka 1405 / 1525. Upon arrival take the Subway or bus to Hakata station. Upon arrival at the Station you should arrange to have your 7 day Rail Pass validated and you should make all your Shinkansen (bullet train) reservations for the rest of your holiday. Your hotel is a 20 minute walk from the station or you can take a taxi in which case you must ask someone at the Rail Pass booking office to write the hotel name on a piece of paper to hand to the taxi driver. It is a 5 minute taxi ride from the station.

Day 4: FUKUOKA / HIROSHIMAAfter breakfast make your way back to the station for a train to Hiroshima. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and upon arrival make your way to your hotel which is located on the station. There are numerous inexpensive food outlets at Hiroshima Station. Afternoon free to explore the city.

Day 5: HIROSHIMAThis morning you will depart on a full day Hiroshima & Miyajima Island Tour. You should be in the hotel lobby at least 15 minutes prior to departure which is 1030. The tour includes the famous Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima as well as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park to commemorate the dropping of the atomic bomb. The tour returns to Hiroshima Station at 1730.

Day 6: HIROSHIMA / OSAKAAfter breakfast depart by Shinkansen for Osaka. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and upon arrival make your way to your hotel which is conveniently attached to the railway station. Afternoon walking tour of Osaka departing at 1240 and including Osaka Castle and a cruise on the Okawa River. The tour ends at Osaka Station at approximately 1630.

Day 7: OsakaThis morning you should travel by subway to the Osaka Aquarium. The aquarium is rated one of the best in the world and is 7 stories high. It contains separate areas illustrating marine life from different parts of the world. There is a Ferris wheel nearby which offers a panoramic view of the city. A subway pass valid for a day and including entrance to the aquarium is available at the nearby subway station.

Day 8: OSAKA / KYOTOMid-morning departure by Shinkansen train for the imperial capital city of Kyoto. Upon arrival make your way to your hotel for a 2 night stay which is a 5 minute walk from the Station. Afternoon free to explore this fascinating day.

Day 9: KYOTOThis morning your tour departs at 0835 from your hotel. The tour includes Nijo Castle, The Golden Pavilion and The Imperial Palace. The tour will end at your hotel at approximately 1300. Afternoon free.

Day 10: KYOTO / TOKYOTake a Shinkansen train mid-morning for your trip to Tokyo (about 3 hours). Upon arrival in Tokyo disembark at Shinagawa Station. Your hotel is a 2 minute walk from the station and has a food court in the basement. There is a Seven Eleven shop which sells inexpensive beer and there is a McDonalds around the corner which also serves breakfast.

Day 11: TOKYOAfter an early breakfast you should be ready to board the shuttle bus at 0805 to be transferred to Hamamatsucho Bus Station. Please be ready in the lobby at least 10 minutes prior to the departure for the commencement of your Tokyo Morning Tour which includes a visit to the Tokyo Tower, The Imperial Palace Plaza followed by a visit to Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple. The tour finishes at 1300 in the Ginza area and you should check with your guide which is the nearest railway station for yo u to take a train back to Shinagawa. You should buy a ticket for this short train ride. Afternoon free.

Day 12: TOKYOToday you will depart from the Shinagawa Hotel for a full day Mount Fuji & Lake Ashi Tour returning by Shinkansen train. Pick-up is at 0805 and you should be ready in the lobby at least 10 minutes prior to departure. The return is by train to Tokyo station. You should get off at Shinagawa Station and return to your hotel at 1930. Lunch is included.

Day 13: TOKYOFree day in Tokyo during which time you may wish to visit the Ginza area.

Day 14: TOKYO / SEOUL / BRISBANEAfter breakfast, depart for the airport by limousine bus and connect to flight KE704 to Seoul 1355 / 1620. Upon arrival you will connect to flight KE123 to Brisbane departing at 2005.
Day 15: BRISBANEArrive at 0650.
